Not everything shining in the night sky is a star. Some bright objects are actually planets. These objects shine because they receive and reflect sunlight. You might also see satellites, the International Space Station or even distant galaxies (星系) glowing from afar.
Among the fascinating things in space is space dust. These are tiny particles of rock, metal and ice, which can come from comets (彗星), asteroids (小行星) or dying stars. When this dust enters Earth's atmosphere, it creates stunning meteor showers (流星雨).
However, not all space material is natural. Space trash, or space debris, includes old satellites, used rocket parts and fragments from collisions. Space agencies track this debris to prevent it from hitting spacecraft.
